I've always had a passion for media & helping others and believe the two should work together. The New Spirit 102.3 is the perfect place to make that happen. One of our goals is to connect the Christian community. I grew up in sunny California and my career runs the media gamut. I started in radio in 1995 in Sacramento at Y92.5 as an evening host and a traffic reporter. I then got the TV bug, and worked as a television news reporter/anchor in Northern California for several years.
The number one question I am asked is, how did I get to Tulsa? In 2000, I moved to Tulsa and reported the news for KJRH Channel 2. While doing that, I kept my toe in radio working at Tulsa's New Mix 96. This was the best decision of my career, because that is how I met the most wonderful man of my life, my husband Tom. We now have two children, Thomas Bennett IV, born in March of 2006, and Anna Bennett born two years later in March of 2008.
I love to be involved in the community, helping kids is my passion. I'm the President of the Adoption Center of Northeastern Oklahoma executive board, as well as involved in the Spirit Network, and a graduate of Leadership Tulsa Class 33. Also, our family is heavily involved in helping orphans in Russia.
In my spare time, I love to play with my kids, play tennis, go for a jog & play with my 3 dogs and 1 cat. (Kaycee, Cinnamon, Lilly, & Cosmo) My husband and I enjoy hiking, skiing and traveling together.
A couple things many people don't know about me, is I am a three time Collegiate National Champion in gymnastics, I love a good challenge and have never kept a New Year's Resolution.
I love calling Tulsa home, and hope in some small way I can help to make it even better. I look forward to getting to know you and thank you for letting me share a little bit of my life with you.

Favorite Spirit Artists: Steven Curtis Chapman, Chris Tomlin & Nicole Nordeman
Family: I am married to the most wonderful man. His name is Tom & he is an answered prayer. It turns out we were both praying the same prayer at the very same time when we met. On our 2nd date we knew we were meant to be. We have 2 children, Tommy and Anna. My Parents and sister live in California.
Favorite Foods: Artichokes have always been at the top of the list, dipped in melted butter, a good steak (medium rare) is tops too. I also love a giant plate of Mexican food!
Best Things to do in Tulsa: Jog or ride my bike on the river trail. On any sunny day that's where you'll find me and my family. We love the theater, and enjoy the outdoors. Tom and I love to watch the spring thunderstorms roll in from the west.
3 Things To Take On A Stranded Island: Bible, my family (or is that included?), cell phone (if I get service), a solar powered radio that played my favorite music, and plenty of water. Did I mention a picture of my family if I couldn't bring them along?
People in High School Said I Would Turn Out To Be: I actually was voted most likely to succeed, but they didn't specify at what I would succeed at. I honestly thought there were many other people in my class that were much more qualified than I, so I hope I didn't let them down. Since I was always involved in school activities organizing them or hosting them I'm pretty sure my class knew I was going to do something in the broadcast world. I'm having fun talking on the radio and being involved in the community. I think that's what they knew was in my heart.
Hobbies:. As the President of the Adoption Center of NEOK, I have got my hands full with everything adoption. I love to hear and be involved in the process of getting an orphaned child in the arms of loving parents. I feel like that is one of my true callings in life. I enjoy putting together fundraisers for charity, scrapbooking, and playing with my kids.
How You Got Involved with Spirit: As a fan of Contemporary Christian music and radio it was a natural. I was a television news reporter for nearly 10 years, and I knew my heart was telling me to go back to radio. While working at another radio station owned by Cox Radio, the day before Thanksgiving the staff was surprised with the big announcement of Spirit 102.3 going on the air. It was then, that I knew I had to be a part of the radio station. My prayers were answered, and I consider it an honor and a privilege to be waking you up in the morning.
Thanks for listening.
