Hello and thank you for welcoming us with such open arms!

We're thrilled to be a part of your day and life & hope The New Spirit 102.3 will continue to give you a positive start in the mornings and be a place to turn for uplifting music and a constant reminder of what is important in life.

I've always had a passion for media & helping others and believe the two should work together. The New Spirit 102.3 is the perfect place to make that happen. One of our goals is to connect the Christian community. I believe when that happens we can move mountains! We're excited to make this Tulsa's Christian station.

As for my background? I grew up in sunny California and my career runs the media gamut. I started in radio in 1995 in Sacramento at Y92.5 as an evening host and a traffic reporter for Metro Networks. Later I got the TV bug, and worked as an investigative producer for the NBC affiliate in Sacramento. It wasn't long after that, I accepted a job in Eureka, CA at the CBS affiliate as a news reporter/anchor and a weather forecaster. Considering I did not have any formal training in the field of meteorology, the forecaster part was quite a hoot! From there, I moved on to hosting a morning television show in Redding, California.

The number one question I am asked is, how did I get to Tulsa? In 2000, I moved to Tulsa and reported the news for 3 years at Channel 2. While doing that, I kept my toe in radio, doing weekends & morning show fill-in work on Tulsa's New Mix 96. Enjoying radio again, I decided to accept a sales position. This was the best decision of my career, because that is how I met the most wonderful man of my life, my husband Tom. Baby Tommy is now part of the Bennett family, born on March 27th, 2006. On a personal note, I love to be involved in the Community. Anything charitable, it's an easy sell to get me involved. Helping kids especially, is my true passion. I'm the President of the Adoption Center of Northeastern Oklahoma board, and am committee member for the Child Abuse Network's annual fundraiser. I'm also involved in the Tulsa Chapter of American Women in Radio and Television, and a graduate of Leadership Tulsa Class 33. My husband and I have started an annual benefit concert series, last year raising $16,000 for local charities benefiting children. Also, our family is heavily involved in helping orphans in Russia.

In my spare time, I love to play tennis, go for a delightful jog & play with my 3 dogs and 1 cat. (Kaycee, Cinnamon, Lilly, & Cosmo) My husband and I enjoy hiking, skiing and traveling together.

A couple things many people don't know about me, is I am a three time Collegiate National Champion in gymnastics, I love a good challenge and have never kept a New Year's Resolution.

The bottom line? Anything I do, I do to its fullest potential, so working on The Spirit 102.3 I feel "the sky is the limit!" I love calling Tulsa home, and hope in some small way I can help to make it even better. I look forward to getting to know you & thanks again for letting me share a little bit of my life with you.

Favorite Spirit Artists: Jadon Lavik, Steven Curtis Chapman, Chris Tomlin & Nicole Nordeman

Family: I am married to the most wonderful man. His name is Tom & he is an answered prayer.. really. It turns out we were both praying the same prayer at the very same time when we met, and knew it was meant be on our 2nd date. We now have a beautiful and active little boy named Thomas (He's Thomas Bennett IV). My Parents and sister live in California.

Favorite Foods: Artichokes have always been at the top of the list, dipped in melted butter – as my son would say "mama....mmmmmmmm!" A good steak medium, rare is tops too. Oh, I'm always game for a big plate of Mexican food too!

Best Things to do in Tulsa: Jog or ride my bike on the river trail. On any sunny day that's where you'll find me and my family. We love the theater, and enjoying the outdoors. Tom and I love to watch the spring thunderstorms roll in from the west.

3 Things To Take On A Stranded Island: Bible, my family (or is that included?), cell phone (if I get service), a solar powered radio that played my favorite music & plenty of sunscreen & water. Wait is that too many things??? Did I mention a picture of my family if I couldn't bring them along?

People in High School Said I Would Turn Out To Be: I actually was voted most likely to succeed, but they didn't specify at what I would succeed at. I honestly thought there were many other people in my class that were much more qualified than I ... you know kids that were going to be doctors etc. so I hope I didn't let them down. Since I was always involved in school activities – organizing them or hosting them – I'm pretty sure my class knew I was going to do something in the broadcast world. I'm having fun talking on the radio and being involved in the community. I think that's what they knew was in my heart.

Hobbies: I am actively involved with The Adoption Center of Northeastern Oklahoma. As the President of the Board of Directors I have got my hands full in everything adoption. I love to hear and be involved in the process of getting an orphaned child in the arms of loving parents. I feel like that is one of my true callings in live. God gave me the talents to be able to do that. I enjoy putting together fundraisers for charity, and I'm also an active Board member of American Women in Radio and Television. I enjoy praising Jesus at church and singing old hymns. I also love tennis, jogging, playing at the park with my son, scrapbooking, and reading. (I usually only read "Christian self-help" type books though, not novels).

How You Got Involved with Spirit: As a fan of Contemporary Christian music and radio it was a natural. I was a television news reporter for nearly 10 years, and I knew my heart was telling me to go back to radio. The only problem was I had a non-compete clause that didn't allow me to do broadcast in Tulsa for a year. I accepted a sales position at Mix96, and had a blast. This is when I met my husband. (all part of THE PLAN). Then 2 or so years into the job, Spirit went on the air, in the studio right next door to Mix96. I knew at that very moment that Spirit was where I was supposed to be. I went home and my husband I prayed numerous times about it, and the very next day all of the doors had been opened and I accepted the position. It really was a God thing, and I consider it an honor to be sitting in that chair every morning and to be a part of such a great station. Just being consumed by Godly people, and wonderful music has grown my faith even more.

That's my story.. thanks for reading.
The end.
