Hello again!
I miss you terribly, and continue to enjoy all of your well wishes and e-mails. I wake up and turn the station on & hear the music and instantly am put in a good mood & look forward to getting back in the saddle again.
In the meantime - I am enjoying motherhood, and writing folks back, I'm sorry if it takes a couple days.. sometimes I find it hard to break away from holding little Tommy. I usually wait until my husband comes home to log onto the computer, because I don't want Tommy to go without arms to hold him - in case he needs them.
They say you can't spoil a newborn... but I think we have.
Motherhood is feeling good, my husband says I wear it well. I'm taking that as a compliment. Our son is now 2 weeks and 2 days old. I can't believe how much he has already grown. In 10 short days he grew one 1 3/4 inches... and gained 12 ounces. The doctor says he's healthy - which is such a blessing from God. I notice as a new mom, I will just look at him. Listen and watch his every move and make sure everything is ok. He is now sleeping about 5 hours during the night (on average), which is another wonderful blessing.
I'm starting to relax a little bit too. At first I was so worried that the maternal instinct wouldn't be there, but I tell you - it's here loud and clear. I guess a new mom doesn't really know all the answers, but I'm finding out if you just listen to your instinct, you just know what to do.
I am still in awe of this little guy. I can and do look at him for hours. He's beautiful.
He is already smiling at me (it could be an involuntary reflex, but I'm still happy watching it anyway), and he's lifting his head and turning on his side. He's an active little guy.
Jaclyn - you are doing a really good job - I've enjoyed listening to you. I know you've been working long hours & I can't begin to tell you how grateful I am to you. I feel completly confident having you there to fill-in & will be back soon, I promise.
I do need some advice from parents. We're only 2 and half weeks into parenthood and there are a couple of things I need some home remedies for. Little Tommy already has diaper rash.. I know there's got to be something out there or a trick to this diaper changing thing that I am missing. So if you have any words to the wise - I would love some help. We're currently using Desitin. Also, everytime I feed my son, no matter if he's been burped for 5 to 20 minutes - he still gets the hiccups. I just feel so bad for the guy - is there any trick to burping that I should know about?? I do recall him getting the hiccups rather frequently while in the womb, so maybe he's just built that way?
Thank you all again for your love and support. I look forward to your e-mails.
Take care and God Bless!
