Watch your hands: Most snake bites occur when people stick their hands down holes or under logs. If you are bitten by a snake, walk -- don't run -- to a car and have someone drive you to a hospital OR CALL 9-1-1.

Keep the BUGS off: Use insect repellent, but follow the manufacturer's label carefully. Repellents containing a 10 percent to 30 percent concentration of DEET are safe for children 2 months of age and older.
